As tagging apparel items with RFID becomes a standard practice in the retail industry, researchers are looking for the next big market for RFID. Some suggest that pharmaceuticals, particularly those that are temperature sensitive and require strict monitoring, could be the next sweet spot for RFID.
A new white paper from ChainLink Research says that adoption of carton-level tagging using temperature sensing RFID for pharmaceuticals could be nearing an inflection point, as seen recently with apparel RFID.
The white paper notes that newly available RFID solutions enable pharmaceutical manufacturers and couriers to change how they manage cold chain operations.
